Episode Summary[]

Billy has his share of the winnings from the previous night's boxing match and gives George his share, but George is furious when he learns that it was fixed and Billy won money betting against him. When he turns up for duty with his battered face, Pearce can't wait to grass him up. Nick reprimands him and sends him home. Sally reluctantly allows Eddie to borrow her car while she is on duty. Blue Watch have to free two lovers trapped in a car when the man slips a disc. They have to cut the roof off to free them.

Billy gets an angry rebuke from Nick when he questions an order and then winds up Kevin to the point where Kevin almost punches him. Patti tries to befriend Jean, but it backfires when Jean doesn't appreciate her trying to stir up trouble by dropping hints about Bert seeing other women. Sally is mad to find Eddie hasn't returned her car. He eventually turns up with the car and flowers after four days. On a long walk, Bayleaf finally proposes to Clare, and she accepts.

Blue Watch are dealing with a small fire when young joyriders get into a high speed chase with the police and crash into a petrol tanker lorry, causing a huge blaze at a petrol station. Hallam bursts through the flames to help two men out of the petrol station shop. The situation escalates further when leaking fuel causes the fire to ignite nearby cars. Nick drives the pump towards a roof to help people escape from the first floor of a nearby restaurant via the roof of the pump, and Sally helps to evacuate the rest via the long turnable ladder.
